The Entrance to the Old Flour Mill ..... Jim explains the operation of the big Water Wheel
The waterwheel mill was built in 1877 by Barrington Price using wood to perform many of the functions that metal does today.
The wooden waterwheel is mounted on a wood shaft with metal ends and turns wood pulleys with leather belts to operate
the grain grinder which has French burr stones.
The waterwheel and some of the drive pulleys can operate for short periods of time as a display. See and learn how Red Fife wheat was planted, harvested, and ground into flour.
Reminisce about how our grandparents lived in the near desert of the Similkameen Valley.
