Pioneer Spirit

What kind of personal spirit did it take to prosper in the 1800's and early 1900's?
How did anyone develop the mental fortitude to survive in such difficult circumstances?
Just consider for a moment, awakening in the pre-dawn darkness, the glass of water on your bedside table is frozen solid as your room temperature is below freezing, there is no electricity and the only heat available is a wood burning stove, ...if you get up and build a fire. It will be at least an hour before you have hot water for a cup of tea, or to brush your teeth and bathe.
How do you nurture your new born babe? How do you motivate your older children to get up, dressed, and walk a country mile to school, ....in a snowstorm?
Your husband and children will need a good breakfast, and packed lunches, to help them work and learn this day.
It takes a special kind of spirit, a positive mental attitude, a desire to make things better, to improve your situation. It's a feeling of confidence and pride in overcoming all obstacles, of building a better life for yourself and your family.
It is not just to survive, but to improve and conquer with comfort and grace.
It takes a Pioneer Spirit.
Your Parents, Grandparents, or Great-grandparents had a Pioneer Spirit.
Come and visit the Old Grist Mill for a couple of hours or a couple of days, and discover your own Pioneer Spirit.
